My Mom grew some beautiful Tiger Lilies this year in her garden and I just had to paint them. There is a short story by Frank L Stockton called The Lady or The Tiger. I remember reading it a very long time ago when I was in High School. It was a philosophical story about life choices and worth reading. The hummingbird in the painting is a female Broad Tail hummer, which are common to our area of the Southwest. The female doesn't have a red throat and she has white tips on her tail.
